HEALTH ONE - improving the care you receive by sharing your health information
The aim of HealthOne is to improve the quality of care you receive by increasing the amount of your medical information that is available to those involved in your healthcare. It also has the potential to increase the safety of health care and reduce repetition of investigations like blood tests and x-rays.
HealthOne is a secure system for storing electronic patient records so that they are available to the person who is providing health care for you at the point of that care. This will be particularly useful when you need to attend hospital or the After Hours centre. The stored record will contain some of your GP records such as your medical history, prescribed medications that you take and any allergies that you may have. It also includes results of investigations such as blood tests and x-rays and hospital reports.
HealthOne can only be accessed by authorised healthcare providers such as doctors, nurses and pharmacists and only at their place of work. The amount of information accessible by any person will be limited to what that person needs to know to provide appropriate care.
HealthOne is a secure environment where your health information is treated as confidential and only to be accessed to help your care. Checks are in place to monitor who has accessed your records and why.
Sharing your information: You may have concerns about the security and privacy of your information. You are able to opt-off HealthOne, or choose to only share some of your information. Please consider carefully whether opting-off is the right decision for you: it may make it harder for your doctors to access the information they need to care for you in the best and safest way when you are unwell.
